About me

“Practice is part of the process and the process makes progress”
– A fundamental principal I live by

If you wanted a one liner summary of me, I would say it is this:

I am a curious, emotionally aware and energetic individual who always looks for the third choice when someone gives me only two.

I grew up on an island in a far away corner of the world. My upbringing in New Zealand, exposed me the outdoors in ways which have shaped my identity to this day. I endeavor to spend as much time as I can on a mountain or in a natural park hiking, in a kayak enjoying the world as seen from an ocean, river or lake, or playing canoe polo with others.

The kiwi cultural values that I was brought up with, empathizes an attitude of “do it yourself “. In this context, I became passionate for creating and building from a young age. In my early 10s, the wonder of flying and space got to me and I started becoming fascinated with the exploration of not only our world, but of our solar system. At the age of 17, I unexpectedly changed my life forever when I undertook the challenge of a high school exchange in the Netherlands, an experience which first introduced me to the challenge and pleasure which come with travel and expat life. And I haven’t left this life since.

It was the combination of my passion for creating and building, aviation and space and the Netherlands which motivated me to study Aerospace Engineering in the Netherlands, at Delft University of Technology. I spent a total of thee years completing my undergraduate degree.I then took two years off studying, to work full time on building, testing rocket engines and flying rockets .I then pivoted to purse another interest of mine, energy sustainability by undertaking a master degree at Delft University of Technology in Sustainable Energy Technology, with a focus on high temperature electrolysers and fuel cells. I concluded by formal educational journey in Delft after I spent eight months in Graz, Austria researching my thesis and graduated from Delft University of Technology.

I have since returned to the aerospace world. I decided that I wanted to further develop my personal and other “soft” skills so I have taken up the opportunity and challenge at GKN Aerospace as a Global Management Graduate. This program is a continuation of my education, albeit more of a “learn by doing” style where I am constantly pushed outside my comfort zone. It is a challenge I am very satisfied with.

Looking forward, I see myself bringing the skills and knowledge I am and will accumulate in my current pursuit into the domain of space utilization. I believe that space can play a bigger and important role in the lives of everyone on Earth, and that is a goal I want to collaborate with others on achieving.
